KING OF PRUSSIA, Pa.--()--Devon IT, Inc., a leading thin client and alternative desktop solution company, today announced their continued success with thin client deployments despite the slow economic condition, and sees unprecedented growth in the industry due to companies looking for a more green and cost-effective alternative to their expensive and difficult to manage PCs.
“All of Devon IT’s thin clients are VDI and Citrix Ready and offer advanced multimedia capabilities, enhanced security and outstanding performance.”
“Within the past few years, thousands of companies have been migrating from desktop PCs to server-hosted desktops,” says Stephane Verdy, Chief Technology Officer, Devon IT. “Our newly launched TC2 thin client series is helping our customers not only go green, but it’s also saving them hundreds if not thousands of dollars in power costs. Managing and upgrading desktops is now simplified and can be done in a central location, saving IT personnel the time it would take to troubleshoot each user’s desktop.”
Devon IT’s TC2 series thin client has garnered significant interest from customers looking for an alternative desktop solution within their organization. The TC2 is one of the smallest thin clients on the market and uses only 8-9 watts on average compared to a 150 watt PC. The TC2C has upgraded 512RAM/1G DOM, is VESA mountable, and comes with a 37-month warranty. The standard TC2B model has 256RAM/512DOM, a foot stand, a power adapter, and a low power-consumption CPU.
Thin clients offer the same look and feel as a PC, but are ergonomically designed to save space. Their life span is double that of a PC and therefore require little to no maintenance. “Many companies are looking for ways to cut back costs, and the IT infrastructure is perhaps the first place businesses should be looking,” says Joe Makoid, President, Devon IT. “Servers are underutilized in most data centers, giving off excess heat, which in turn require extra power and cooling. With virtualization you can eliminate the servers that are not needed, increase security, reduce the need for yearly refreshes, and decrease the power consumption.”
With each server removed through virtualization companies can save 12.5 tons of carbon dioxide emissions, which is equivalent to taking 1.5 cars off the road. Companies of all verticals are seeing huge benefits from server-hosted desktops and virtualization. “New advances in Citrix XenDesktop and VDI are also attractive to most customers interested in virtualization,” notes Makoid. “All of Devon IT’s thin clients are VDI and Citrix Ready and offer advanced multimedia capabilities, enhanced security and outstanding performance.”
