Contactology’s Real-Time Reporting Helping PASTE Magazine Routinely Sell-out Email Ad Inventory
PASTE Pushing Advertising-Based Newsletters to Extensive Database with Contactology
DURHAM, N.C.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Contactology, a provider of email marketing and online survey technologies, announced today that PASTE Media Group, publisher of PASTE Magazine, has employed its technology to push advertising-based newsletters to the magazine’s extensive database of opt-in subscribers. PASTE Magazine, one of the fastest-growing independently published entertainment magazines in the country, boasts a database of over 100,000 contacts to which a weekly summary of new releases, downloads, and other current news is distributed.
“As we grew our contact database and expanded our online offerings, we required a new email marketing solution that would scale with our growing needs,” said Palmer Houchins, manager of marketing and new media, PASTE Media Group. “Contactology provides us with whitelist status, extensive reporting infrastructure, and user-friendly interface we did not have with our previous solution.”
PASTE has a somewhat unique situation in that their email marketing campaigns are focused on providing targeted editorial content to subscribers and selling advertising around that. Since ad placements are an integral part of the magazine’s revenue model, Contactology’s real-time reporting capabilities have allowed PASTE to easily determine the most popular editorial content and most effective marketing initiatives.
“Since implementing Contactology, we are routinely selling out of our email ad inventory a month out from newsletter delivery, something we’ve never consistently done,” said Houchins. “We can directly attribute these results to better reporting – we can now demonstrate the direct impact of a cost-effective email advertising campaign as opposed to other online methods.”
PASTE looks forward to transitioning to Contactology’s built-in survey function. The magazine occasionally conducts market surveys to determine the content subscribers liked and didn’t like. This instant feedback allows PASTE to gather demographics that can also be used to attract relevant advertisers. In the near future, they also plan to incorporate segmenting based on zip code so they can offer geo-targeted advertising.
“Our goal is to provide the tools companies need to fully optimize their email marketing campaigns so they can hone in on the content in which their subscribers are most interested,” said Drew Adams, Contactology president. “Our technology has given PASTE the ability to think more broadly with their marketing initiatives, to provoke contacts into action.”
