EDISON, N.J.--()--Mformation® Technologies Inc., the market leader and innovator in mobile device management software, today announced it has filed a patent infringement lawsuit in the United States District Court for the Northern District of California against Research In Motion Limited ("RIM"; NASDAQ: RIMM) and its wholly-owned U.S. subsidiary, Research In Motion Corporation. According to the complaint, Research In Motion and its subsidiary have infringed, and continue to infringe, two of Mformation's U.S. patents by making, using, and selling RIM's Blackberry® devices, and their management software. RIM's Blackberry® devices and associated software employ innovative systems and methods of remote device management invented by Mformation, and covered by Mformation's asserted patents: U.S. Pat. Nos. 6,970,917 and 7,343,408. As described in the complaint, Mformation disclosed details regarding these inventive systems and methods of remote device management to RIM during licensing discussions. After refusing to license Mformation's disclosed systems and software, RIM modified its Blackberry® software to include Mformation's patented systems and methods of remote management.
