CNET Networks Hires Former Dennis Publishing Executive to Lead Entertainment and Lifestyle Brands

SAN FRANCISCO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--CNET Networks, Inc. (NASDAQ:CNET), a leading interactive media company, today announced that Stephen Colvin, former President and CEO of Dennis Publishing, the publisher of Maxim, Blender, Stuff, and The Week magazines, is joining the company as executive vice president. Colvin will be dedicated to overseeing the company’s entertainment and lifestyle brands, which includes leading properties such as GameSpot, TV.com, MP3.com, FilmSpot, CHOW, and UrbanBaby.

“We’re extremely pleased to have him join our executive management team.”

Colvin, a cross-platform media executive, brings more than 20 years of media and brand experience in U.S. and international markets to CNET Networks. As CEO of Dennis Publishing, Colvin launched and developed brands such as Maxim, The Week, and Blender magazine, and expanded the company’s U.S. operations from four people in a small New York office, to almost 300 people in six U.S. cities. Today, Maxim remains the best selling men’s lifestyle magazine in the U.S. and the world. During this period, Colvin also expanded the business from magazine publishing to include a significant internet and mobile business, successful radio and television productions as well as branded restaurants, lounges and hotels.

Both Advertising Age and AdWeek magazines have recognized Colvin as Publishing Executive of the Year. In addition, he was named a Top 40 Under 40 Executive by Advertising Age and Folio Magazines.

“Stephen is a dynamic, experienced, and respected media executive who has an impressive track-record of building highly successful lifestyle media brands in the U.S. and international markets,” said Neil Ashe, CEO of CNET Networks. “We’re extremely pleased to have him join our executive management team.”

“CNET Networks, one of the most respected and successful Internet companies in the world is, I believe, positioned to enjoy exponential growth in the future,” said Colvin. “I’m excited to be part of the team that is going to make it happen.”
