COMMERCE TWP., Mich.--()--Mother of two and Founder of pams-hams.com, Pam Cole is on a mission to de-stress the holidays for Moms across America. The simplicity of the site's specialty, a glazed baked ham, is that it is perfection with no preparation. That solved, moms can once again be part of the holiday traditions with their families.
“For the first time since I took over the family holiday entertaining, I won’t be watching the festivities from the kitchen”
The namesake and centerpiece of the pams-hams.com is a fully cooked, spiral-sliced ham glazed with sugar and honey. “It’s the ultimate simple, yet versatile meat that everyone loves. Kind of like the little black dress of meat,” says Cole.
The website was a natural transition since Pam had over 20 years of marketing experience with a leading specialty ham company and other service providers. Her decision to work-from-home corresponded with her need for more flexibility with her children. Pam is not alone as 53% of small businesses in the U.S. are home based and women own 6.5 million of them. (source: http://app1.sba.gov/faqs/).
Pams-hams are produced to her specs and then drop shipped directly from the manufacturer. This allows the emphasis to be on the product itself and the direct interface with the customer. “Cutting out the middlemen saves everyone money and allows us to concentrate on the two most important things; the ham and the people that will be enjoying it!,” says Cole
“For the first time since I took over the family holiday entertaining, I won’t be watching the festivities from the kitchen,” says pams-hams customer Wendy Weber. Her last pams-ham was such a hit with the whole family that she has no intention of ever making a ham from scratch again.
Additionally, the site has side dishes and desserts for those serving it as a dinner, and other gift items for those sending to friends and family. Over 80% of customers purchase pams-hams as a gift and send a personalized note card along with it. And new this holiday is an e-gift card for the ultimate in gift giving convenience.
So what do the kids think of their mom’s web business? They want her to help them build one too now. Parkers-markers?
