SANTA MONICA, Calif.--()--Userplane (http://www.userplane.com), the premier application platform for online communities and a wholly owned subsidiary of AOL, today announced an upgrade to its Webrecorder, providing the application to publishers/webmasters as a free, ad-supported tool for the first time.
“By providing it free of charge to webmasters and publishers, we’re encouraging more and more websites to adopt the tool, which will undoubtedly help attract visitors to the sites – and keep them coming back again and again. Everyone wins.”
With Userplane Webrecorder, websites can enable their users to easily record and play back audio/video messages. Working seamlessly on any website and requiring only the highly accessible Flash plug-in, Userplane Webrecorder instantly recognizes any webcam and microphone without complicated configuration. Deployments include: users recording their own audio and video profile, sending and receiving audio and video mail, posting audio and video comments on blogs and profile pages, and 1-2-3 administration of site-wide audio and video help, announcements and news.
This recent upgrade to Webrecorder lets webmasters and publishers implement the tool with zero fees, thanks to the unobtrusive ads that accompany the application. Userplane takes care of the advertising, while website operators integrate the app with their websites via an XML API.
“The Userplane Webrecorder has been well-received by publishers, webmasters and users alike because it’s easy to use and it creates a dynamic, multi-dimensional community atmosphere,” said Michael Jones, CEO of Userplane and vice president of AOL. “By providing it free of charge to webmasters and publishers, we’re encouraging more and more websites to adopt the tool, which will undoubtedly help attract visitors to the sites – and keep them coming back again and again. Everyone wins.”
More than 180,000 online communities have deployed Userplane applications – from social-networking communities to dating sites to blogs to news sites. Userplane tools are used by millions of daily users in more than 30 countries.
