uPlayMe Closes Second Round of Funding

Warner Music Group & Village Ventures participates in multi-million dollar investment

NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--uPlayMe (www.uPlayMe.com), developer of a desktop application which automatically connects people through their shared tastes in music, movies, TV shows and other digital content, announced today it has closed a multi-million dollar funding round including investments from Warner Music Group (NYSE: WMG), Village Ventures, and other investors. Closing this round with WMG, one of four major music labels and a leader in digital entertainment, indicates uPlayMe’s ability to win significant support from major entertainment companies. uPlayMe is a desktop application designed to bring people together around the digital entertainment they consume on their computers and mobile devices. The additional funds will accelerate uPlayMe’s continued product and service development, as well as its ability to distribute the application.

From its desktop application, uPlayMe offers an entertainment-based social network that matches members in real-time based on their recently played songs and videos, providing a new experience for connecting with other users and discovering new entertainment. uPlayMe members can explore the digital entertainment that other uPlayMe members are enjoying, and can sample and buy the new content they discover.

In addition to its investment in uPlayMe, WMG will work with uPlayMe to include its applications on its artists’ and labels’ web sites and in their work with social networks.
