NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Fotolog™, the world’s largest photo-blogging community and third most-trafficked social media network, today announced it had reached the 10 million member milestone and was launching Google search functionality.

“fun, addictive new take on the blogging/photosharing genre.”

In addition, the site is soaring in Comscore rankings, as the service now tracks Fotolog as having nearly 4.6 million daily visitors, more than 15 million monthly uniques, 25.4 minutes average minutes per usage day and more than 21 average monthly visits per visitor. These measures rank Fotolog 19th worldwide in average minutes and 11th in average visits (these ranks are based on company calculations and only measures against the Top 1000 Properties based on Unique Users as defined by Comscore).

Since the beginning of the year, Fotolog has doubled its membership and added more than 100 million photos and 1 billion “conversations,” and now receives 700,000 photo uploads daily. In particular, Fotolog is continuing to build strength in European markets, which make up 21% of its audience. Fotolog is the number 9 site in Spain, according to Alexa, and Germany and Italy are among the countries with the fastest-growing communities. The loyalty and engagement of audiences in international growth markets was demonstrated when a group of users in Chile, where Fotolog is the number one website, went on strike to protest recent changes in the service.

Moreover, the site continues to build momentum in areas ranging from global rankings to improving the user experience to expanding monetization:

  • In addition to climbing Comscore worldwide measures, Fotolog now ranks number 21 on the Alexa Global List of most-trafficked websites.
  • The Company today began implementation of its recently announced multi-year search technology and services agreement under which Google search functionality will be available from any page in the service.
  • Fotolog indicated that more than one-third of its exceptionally active membership is already taking advantage of chat, instant messaging and video messaging tools available through its recent agreement with AOL’s Userplane, bringing a live dimension to an already compelling user experience. The site also recently added Strongmail capability and upgraded the service to improve navigability and reduce spam.
  • PC Magazine recently featured Fotolog as the Site of the Week, labeling the site as a “fun, addictive new take on the blogging/photosharing genre.” http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,1895,2150030,00.asp. Fotolog was also included in a recent PC Magazine round-up of social networking sites: http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,1759,2159188,00.asp.

John Borthwick, Fotolog’s Chief Executive Officer, stated “Fotolog is on a tear – we’re adding 30,000 members a day and have welcomed 5 million so far this year as we continue to make our user experience even more interesting and compelling through our partnerships with Google and AOL. Just 14 days after we launched AOL's chat service, one-third of all the people who ever signed up to Fotolog enabled Fotolog Messenger. The loyalty and high usage levels of our members around the world continue to build, and the new tools we are adding are positioning us to accelerate our progress in monetizing this rapidly expanding and incredibly engaged audience.”
