LogicTools Symposium to Address Risk in the Global Supply Chain

Sixth-Annual Conference to Arm Executives with Strategies for Coping with Natural Disasters, Rising Fuel Costs, and Other Sources of Supply Chain Disruption

Supply Chain Excellence 2007: Managing Risk in the Global Supply
Chain

CHICAGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--LogicTools, a division of ILOG® (NASDAQ: ILOG, Euronext: ILO, ISIN: FR0004042364), today opened registration for its sixth-annual symposium, Supply Chain Excellence 2007: Managing Risk in the Global Supply Chain. The event will address how trends, including outsourcing, off-shoring and lean manufacturing that focus on reducing supply chain costs, can significantly increase the level of risk in the supply chain. Attendees will take part in an expanded conference program tailored toward identifying key sources of risk in the supply chain as well as strategies and tactics for managing that risk in their respective industries.

“Companies should actively work on risk management strategies, from managing supply and logistics risk, and prepare for business continuity and supply chain resilience in the face of any unexpected event.”

The conference will be held on September 27 in conjunction with LogicTools’ annual user conference on September 28 at The Metropolitan Club at Sears Tower in Chicago. Speakers include leading supply chain authority, Mark Hillman, Research Director, AMR Research, Sharan Singanamala, Strategic Logistics Planning Manager, GE Healthcare, David Simchi-Levi, Co-founder of LogicTools and Professor of Engineering Systems, Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Jean-François Abramatic, Vice President and Chief Product Officer, ILOG.

The event will feature a panel discussion, Supply Chain Risk Management: Stories from the Trenches led by industry experts and breakout sessions targeted towards director-level and above practitioners involved with Distribution, Finance, Logistics IT, Manufacturing, Production, Operations, Supply Chain and Transportation.

“The data show roughly 43% of firms say they have a policy in place for assessing their risk in the event of a catastrophic event like a pandemic, meaning that nearly 60% do not have effective supply chain risk management policies in place. For many, though, plans are in the evaluation stage. Even more telling is that firms are abysmally unprepared for managing supply risk,” said Mark Hillman, Research Director at AMR Research in Boston, MA. According to Hillman, “Companies should actively work on risk management strategies, from managing supply and logistics risk, and prepare for business continuity and supply chain resilience in the face of any unexpected event.”
