Toshiba Announces Affordable, Dual Hard Drive Notebook for Consumers

New Satellite® A135 Notebook Line Features 15.4-Inch

Diagonal Widescreen Display and Microsoft Windows Vista™

IRVINE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Toshiba’s Digital Products Division (DPD), a division of Toshiba America Information Systems, Inc., today announced the Satellite® A135 notebook computer series, offering consumers a wide selection of feature-rich mobile computing solutions at an affordable price. Toshiba’s newest Satellite line will be available in three different configurations all featuring a version of the new Windows Vista™ operating system.

The multimedia-rich Satellite A135-S4499 incorporates two 120GB serial ATA hard drives1 to provide consumers with the luxury of optimum storage capacity using both drives and the convenience of using one drive for business applications, while reserving the second hard drive for music, photos and other multimedia files. The Satellite A135-S4499 will be available for purchase on Feb. 20, 2007.

By designing a notebook computer that features dual hard drives, the Satellite A135 platform provides consumers with a notebook computer that increases the system’s overall functionality while providing optimal storage capacity and secure data redundancy on one drive.

Designed for mobile enthusiasts and multimedia professionals, the new Satellite lineup is rounded out by the Satellite A135-S4427 and Satellite A135-S4467. The series has a starting weight of 6.0 pounds2 and are collectively equipped with a standard 15.4-inch diagonal widescreen display with TruBrite® technology. The Satellite A135-S4499 and Satellite A135-S4467 units feature an Onyx Blue Metallic lid and have an estimated single unit price (ESUP) of $1,499.993 and $999.993 respectively. The Satellite A135-S4427 is available in Mist Gray for an (ESUP) of $899.993.

Optimized for advanced multimedia performance and productivity, the Satellite A135-S4499 incorporates the Intel® Core™ 2 Duo Processor T5500 (1.66GHz, 2MB L2, 667MHz FSB)4, 2048MB DDR2 memory5 as well as two serial-ATA hard drives totaling 240GB1. The Satellite A135-S4499 is available with Windows Vista™ Ultimate.

The Satellite A135-S4499 includes a fingerprint reader for one-touch secure access management, and a customizable Dual Mode touch pad that can provide one-tap short cuts to launch e-mail, an Internet browser and other selected programs.

The mainstream Satellite A135-S4467 features the Intel Core Duo Processor T5200 (1.60GHz, 2MB L2, 533MHz FSB)4, 160GB serial-ATA hard drive1 and features 1024MB of DDR2 memory5.

The value-packed Satellite A135-S4427 is powered by the Intel Core Duo Processor T2250 (1.73GHz, 2MB L2, 533MHz FSB)4 and is equipped with a 120GB serial-ATA hard drive1 and incorporates 1024MB DDR2 memory5.

Both the Satellite A135-S4467 and Satellite A135-S4427 are preloaded with Windows Vista™ Home Premium designed to make your digital lifestyle easier, safer, more connected and more entertaining.

Each Satellite A135 notebook comes standard with:

  • TruBrite® technology that offers a brilliant display for games or movies, and easy viewing of spreadsheets and other productivity applications
  • Toshiba’s DVD SuperMulti (+/- R Double Layer) drive that reads and writes in up to 11 formats and nearly doubles a recordable DVD’s storage capacity in dual-layer format
  • DDR2 memory5 for better performance of productivity applications and music, picture and video multimedia files
  • Four USB 2.0 ports for connectivity of accessories and peripherals
  • 5-in-1 bridge media adapter for easy file sharing and downloads

The Satellite A135 notebook series come with a standard one-year limited warranty6. The standard limited warranty includes carry-in support at Authorized Service Providers throughout the country, or the customer may utilize any of the more than 3,000 UPS Stores for packaging and delivery of the product to a centralized depot for prompt service. Customers can also choose to upgrade their notebook’s service plans for up to four years of extended service.

All Toshiba notebooks are RoHS-compatible7, reducing harmful environmental effects by restricting the use of lead, mercury and certain other hazardous substances.

The Satellite A135-S4427 and Satellite A135-S4467 will be available for purchase on Jan. 30, 20078 at major consumer electronics and computer stores nationwide. Select models and additional configurations will be available from ToshibaDirect (www.toshibadirect.com).
