EqualLogic Appoints Storage Industry Analyst Marc Farley as Director of Customer Programs

Storage Industry Expert Who Wrote the Book on Building Storage Networks Continues Customer Advocacy in New Role at EqualLogic

NASHUA, N.H.--()--EqualLogic® today announced that Marc Farley, storage industry analyst, consultant and author of Building Storage Networks, the seminal handbook on storage area networks (SANs), has joined the pioneering iSCSI storage vendor as director of customer programs. In his new role at EqualLogic, Farley will continue to investigate storage customers evolving needs while evangelizing technology developments that simplify storage management.

Specifically, Farley will organize and chair a customer advisory council to facilitate two-way discussion between EqualLogic and the user community. In addition, he will maintain ongoing communication with storage managers, IT directors and CIOs to gather intelligence about the most important issues in storage management. Farley will share customer feedback and his general research with EqualLogics product management and engineering organizations to help the company continue to enhance the PS Series family of storage arrays with features that address real customer concerns. Farley will publish his findings to contribute to the industry discussion about the evolution of storage management practices and technology.

The most difficult IT resource to control is data, and the risks surrounding data ownership are becoming the most pressing problem for IT professionals, said Farley. There is no doubt that advances in data management are needed to meet this challenge, and I believe EqualLogic is leading the necessary shift to a simpler process of buying, deploying and managing storage networks. My work with EqualLogic is dedicated to furthering this shift through customer research and advocacy.

Marc Farley is a well-respected authority on network storage with 18 years in the technology industry. Founder of the Building Storage firm, Farley has been an independent consultant and analyst in network storage since 1999, providing a variety of services to investors and customers. He started his career in storage in 1991 with Palindrome Corporation, maker of one of the first LAN backup products. He has worked on many different technologies, including backup software and hardware, RAID subsystems, SAN switches, storage routers, NAS aggregation and data management software. Farley holds a bachelors of science degree in physics from the University of Washington.
