BroadSoft Announces BroadWorks VoIP Application Platform Support for IBM Blade Servers Running Linux

GAITHERSBURG, Md.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 10, 2005--BroadSoft, Inc., the leading provider of VoIP application software, today announced that its BroadWorks(R) VoIP application suite will run on IBM eServer BladeCenter and xSeries systems running the Linux operating system.

Under an agreement between the two companies, the BroadWorks VoIP application platform will support the IBM eServer BladeCenter, BladeCenter T family of products and selected xSeries Telecommunications servers, including the x343 and x336.

“BroadSoft has a proven track record for working with global top-tier carriers in the deployment of their business and residential VoIP service initiatives”

The Solution is now generally available. As part of the agreement, BroadSoft and IBM will also work together on sales, marketing, product development and other business development initiatives.

The combination of the BroadWorks VoIP application software running on the IBM BladeCenter T platform provides clients a highly-dense, scalable, industry standard carrier-grade solution. "BroadSoft's integrated and open standards-based platform offers carriers the widest range of applications, opens new revenue streams and achieves the quickest time to market for new services. As the world's largest information technology company, IBM provides additional strategic and infrastructure depth and resources. This establishes a powerful combination for service providers as they undertake these strategic imperatives."

"BroadSoft has a proven track record for working with global top-tier carriers in the deployment of their business and residential VoIP service initiatives," said Jim Pertzborn, Vice President, Telecommunications Industry, IBM Systems Technology Group. "This heritage combined with BladeCenter and xSeries server technology running Linux allows us to provide our mutual customers the level of reliability and support they need to compete, and grow their businesses, in the next-generation network space."

BroadSoft's BroadWorks VoIP application platform provides a comprehensive range of advanced applications, including hosted PBX, IP Centrex, mobile PBX, business trunking and residential broadband services fully integrated into a single VoIP application platform.
