Fair Will Celebrate West Hollywood's 20th Anniversary with Giant Cake
and Live Music on Sunday, October 2, 2005
WHAT: The Fourth Annual West Hollywood Book Fair will take place
this Sunday, October 2, 2005 at West Hollywood Park, 647 N.
San Vicente Boulevard in West Hollywood. The Fair will
feature more than 200 authors signing books and participating
in discussion panels on a variety of topics. To be showcased
throughout the day are newly-released "Harry Potter" fine art
giclee prints by the Harry Potter book series illustrator
Mary GrandPre. The newly-released Harry Potter images are
currently not displayed anywhere else in the Los Angeles area
and will offer a unique opportunity for Harry Potter fans to
view the work up close.
The diverse activities include: a "small stage" featuring
dramatic performances; celebrity children's storytelling at
a huge "Alice in Wonderland"-sized chair; slam poetry and
spoken word performances; readings from novels and short
stories; cooking demonstrations and food samples by the
"Border Girls" and other popular chefs at a cooking pavilion;
writing workshops; spoken word performances; a pet psychic
booth and Italian-style street chalk painting area open for
public participation. The Fair will culminate in a community
party celebrating the City of West Hollywood's 20th
Anniversary of Cityhood at 6 p.m. complete with live music,
dancing and a giant 6'x4' community birthday cake to be
assembled on location.
The event is free. Free parking for the event will be
available at the Pacific Design Center, 8687 Melrose Avenue,
across the street from West Hollywood Park.
