dbMotion Raises $10.2 Million from Gemini, Vertex & Pitango; Gemini Led 2nd Round of Financing to Be Used for the Expansion of Marketing, Sales and R&D Efforts

TEL-AVIV, Israel--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 28, 2005--dbMotion, which develops and markets Virtual Patient Record technology, completed a $10.2 million financing round (Series B) led by Gemini Israel Funds. Existing shareholders, Vertex Venture Capital and Pitango Venture Capital, also participated in this round. In its previous financing round, in early 2004, dbMotion raised $6 million from Vertex and Pitango.

The dbMotion(TM) Solution creates secured Virtual Patient Records by logically connecting a group of care providers and organizations without data centralization. The Solution puts integrated patient information at caregivers' fingertips, enabling clinical staff to make better care decisions, shorten care cycles and improve the quality of care. It enables authorized medical staff to retrieve medical information on demand, subject to the appropriate access authorizations; and its deployment is achieved without the necessity of replacing existing information systems.

“Beyond the vote of confidence from our existing shareholders and from Gemini, the present round is designed to strengthen our ability to capitalize on the present market opportunity.”

dbMotion has been implemented for over four years in Israel's largest HMO, Clalit Health Services, which provides full healthcare services to 3.7 million patients through 14 hospitals, 1200 clinics and 40 laboratories. This network was recently joined by two of the largest and most advanced hospitals in the Middle East, Sheba Medical Center in Tel Aviv, and Rambam Medical Center in Haifa, both government-operated organizations.

The majority of funds raised will be used to boost dbMotion's penetration efforts into overseas markets. In 2004 dbMotion completed a successful proof of concept in the Netherlands. Today, several European countries are undergoing a revolution in their approach to medical information sharing and are actively pursuing information integration projects.

According to Adi Pundak-Mintz, General Partner at Gemini, the firm decided to invest in dbMotion after it identified the company's potential to become a significant industry player. According to Pundak-Mintz, "Gemini chose to invest in dbMotion because of the company's broad and long-term vision, its excellent management team and staff, and because it addresses a huge market. Throughout the Western World there is a strong trend towards patient data integration, and dbMotion - as a worldwide pioneer with a proven solution in this field - is well positioned to become a market leader. We have therefore decided to lead this round."

dbMotion announced in January the establishment of its North American subsidiary, headed by industry veterans Peter van der Grinten and Mark Gross.

"There is an increasing interest in worldwide markets in medical information integration. We have identified at least 60 such initiatives requiring solutions in the U.S. alone," says dbMotion CEO Yuval Ofek. "Beyond the vote of confidence from our existing shareholders and from Gemini, the present round is designed to strengthen our ability to capitalize on the present market opportunity."

dbMotion was established in early 2004 as a spin-off of Ness-ISI, a division of Ness Technologies (Nasdaq:NSTC), which is a shareholder in dbMotion. Headquartered in Ra'anana, Israel, dbMotion employs a staff of 80 in Israel and the U.S.
