ICTV, the industry leader in headend-based interactivity, has reached agreements with three Canadian companies - Sarbakan, The EatSleepMusic Network and Infolinx -- for new gaming, entertainment and information content and applications for the HeadendWare platform. Products from all three companies will be on display at the ICTV booth, #707, April 3-5 at the National Show at the Moscone Convention Center.
“Sarbakan, The Eatsleepmusic Network and Infolinx all bring to the HeadendWare platform the concepts and execution that will help our customers generate iTV revenues.”
"The development and refreshment of content packages that will attract and retain subscribers is an ongoing process," said Peter Schultz, director of solutions marketing for ICTV. "Sarbakan, The Eatsleepmusic Network and Infolinx all bring to the HeadendWare platform the concepts and execution that will help our customers generate iTV revenues."
"Canada is truly leading in the design and delivery of interactive digital content," said Lynda Brown, executive director, New Media BC and National New Media Coalition representative. "We have some of the largest new media hubs in North America, over 85% national broadband penetration, extremely sophisticated content developers and progressive distributors pushing the edges of new technologies. With close to 200 digital delivery companies in Canada, it is no surprise that we're seeding the interactive TV market."
Sarbakan, a Quebec company, will demonstrate "Nightmares," a game that enables network operators to capitalize on a new concept in interactive entertainment: episodic, cinematic games that can be played on a pay-per-level basis, using compelling storylines and high quality animation to entice return visits by subscribers. Subscribers to HeadendWare-powered services navigate the game on television, using any digital set-top box and standard remote controls to help the central figure, a child, outwit such nightmare characters as a devil, a clown and a gorilla.
The Ottawa-based Eatsleepmusic Network's Karaoke TV application brings high quality karaoke to HeadendWare-powered televisions and home theater systems. The feature-rich service includes a library of thousands of songs, full-screen lyric display, playlist creation and the capability to add or remove lead vocals.
Based in Vancouver, InfoLinx Communications has created an interactive channel that combines the Yellow Pages, community information and the power of interactive TV to deliver television centric content to iTV users, on demand. Community oriented and locally focused, the channel provides relevant local content and supports a bundled service offering. The InfoLinx Channel allows broadband network operators the opportunity to use targeted, local content as a natural advantage for the bundling of telephone and TV service, as well as the distribution of interactive content.
