| Electronic Program Guides are critical for Telcos to customize consumer services |
“The flexible system enables telephone companies to quickly modify, update, customize and target programming and program-related information to specific subscribers. By increasing the value of this information, telcos can differentiate their services offerings from cable and satellite companies.”
mPhase Technologies (OTC: XDSL) today announced that it has reached an agreement with Triveni Digital to resell its GuideBuilder Pro metadata management system as part of its mPhase TV+ System, the standards-based system that enables the delivery of broadband TV and data services over telephone networks.
"The inclusion of the Triveni Digital GuideBuilder system enhances our As You Like It(TM) services creation environment for mPhase TV+," said Ron Durando, CEO, mPhase Technologies. "The flexible system enables telephone companies to quickly modify, update, customize and target programming and program-related information to specific subscribers. By increasing the value of this information, telcos can differentiate their services offerings from cable and satellite companies."
The mPhase TV+ System manages the television programming for transmission over a phone company DSL network and digital set top box. It also performs administrative tasks such as firmware updates, electronic program guide downloads, channel authorization and service and billing provisioning, including such functions as pay-per-view and video-on-demand. To offer a complete and seamless solution, the GuideBuilder system has been integrated with the mPhase TV+ System electronic program guide, which is currently available in English, Spanish, Italian, French and Russian.
"The program guide has a major influence on the subscriber's experience," said Nandhu Nandhakumar, VP of Engineering and CTO of Triveni Digital. "Our system is designed to feed the program guide with rich, accurate and timely information. We have used our advanced technology to simplify our interfaces to back-office and element management systems. Our metadata format is based on the world's leading standards such as ATSC PSIP and DVB SI, guaranteeing maximum interoperability."
Triveni Digital's integrated GuideBuilder Pro system provides telcos different ways to control, enhance and monetize the announcement, branding and promotion of entertainment content. Multiple integration points with various operational support systems and information sources enables telco personnel using the mPhase TV+ System to quickly tailor services to meet subscriber needs, and to operate these services at low ongoing cost.
