"Since announcing the MPR products, WJ has received tremendous interest in these miniature RFID Reader cards and has rapidly progressed these new products through an industry Beta program and into production," said James A. Mravca, senior vice president of strategic marketing for WJ Communications. "Making these products commercially available in volume to our customers prior to the Jan 1, 2005 mandate undertaken by major retailers and the DOD was a major goal for us and for our customers. All of the infrastructure is in place to enable a steep production ramp as demand grows, and we believe these affordable, easy to use, multi-protocol RFID Reader cards are just what the industry has been waiting for. Additionally, the FCC grants for these PC Card(TM) readers enable customers to use them immediately. WJ has performed and passed all of the necessary compliance testing allowing the customer to just plug in the cards, install the supplied software and read tags."

The MPR Series RFID Reader Cards are Type II PCMCIA compatible and operate with the EPCglobal(TM) Class 0/1 and the Class 0+ protocols. They are also upgradeable to UHF Gen 2 functionality via a software update. These small and easy-to-use reader cards are vital building blocks for OEMs, systems integrators, value-added resellers (VARs), software developers and others developing printers, handhelds, fixed and integrated RFID-enabled end-products.
