WJ Commences Production Deliveries of Its Multi-Protocol PC Card RFID Readers -- MPR 5000 and MPR 6000

SAN JOSE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 21, 2004--WJ Communications, Inc. (Nasdaq:WJCI), a leading designer and supplier of RF semiconductors and multi-chip modules, today announced that it has begun production deliveries of its new Multi-Protocol MPR 5000 and MPR 6000 RFID Reader Cards. Shipments of the MPR Series units have been made to multiple customers including OEMs, end-item users, and value-added resellers who have placed production purchase orders through both WJ Communications and through distribution. Both models are now in stock and available with short lead times. As a PC Card(TM) the MPR Series RFID Reader Cards have been granted an FCC certification allowing customers to integrate and use them without significant additional compliance testing or certification.

The MPR Series RFID Reader Cards are Type II PCMCIA compatible and operate with the EPCglobal(TM) Class 0/1 and the Class 0+ protocols. They are also upgradeable to UHF Gen 2 functionality via a software update. These small and easy-to-use reader cards are vital building blocks for OEMs, systems integrators, value-added resellers (VARs), software developers and others developing printers, handhelds, fixed and integrated RFID-enabled end-products.
