| #1 Wedding Resource and The Nation's Leading Cable and Broadband Provider Launch First Ever All-Weddings VOD Service; Features Real Weddings, Bridal Fashion Runway Shows, and Wedding Planning Episodes |
“We are thrilled to partner with an industry leader like Comcast to launch the first ever on-demand service dedicated to weddings”
The majority of today's busy engaged couples plan their weddings when they can -- on lunch break, during the workday, or even at 2 a.m. To help them get the wedding planning information and entertainment they need when they want it, Comcast Cable and The Knot (www.theknot.com) have launched the first all-weddings, all-the-time video-on-demand service, "The Knot Weddings."
Featuring several hours of wedding-related programming with new programs added to "The Knot Weddings" service each month, "The Knot Weddings" provides brides, grooms and wedding enthusiasts with best-of bridal television. Popular 4-to-6 minute pieces include:
-- REAL WEDDING STORIES: Behind-the-scenes as real couples get married across the country, from the critically acclaimed TV series, "Real Weddings from The Knot"
-- WEDDING FASHION SHOWS: 60+ exclusive runway collections from Vera Wang, Badgely Mischka, Carolina Herrera, Reem Acra, and others!
-- HOT WEDDING TRENDS: From the hottest bridesmaids frocks to the buzz at fashion week
In addition, Comcast customers who subscribe to Comcast's High-Speed Internet service now have convenient access to wedding information and planning tools from TheKnot.com on Comcast.net's Relationships channel. Interactive tools include a planning checklist, guest list manager, budgeter, and wedding web page builder; wedding gown galleries; real wedding stories; and a community for engaged couples -- and are just a few of the highlights. The home page also provides access to The Knot's acclaimed advice column, "Ask Carley," which features etiquette and planning guidance from Editor in Chief Carley Roney, as well as access to The Knot Gift Store & Registry, which creates an easy and seamless shopping experience.
"We are thrilled to partner with an industry leader like Comcast to launch the first ever on-demand service dedicated to weddings," said David Liu, CEO of The Knot. "Our partnership will enable us to bring The Knot's trademark approach of style and substance to customers nationwide -- including many of our loyal online users -- so that style-savvy couples can find the wedding information and services they need, when and how it's most convenient for them."
"The Knot offers unique, entertaining and informative programming that's a natural fit for our ON DEMAND service," added Page Thompson, Vice President of Marketing, New Video Products, for Comcast. "As couples plan their special day, they can learn more about the topics that most interest them any time they want, all at no additional charge with Comcast Digital Cable."
"The Knot Weddings" is the first video-on-demand venture of The Knot and second television partnership forged by The Knot in its promise to be everywhere a bride turns for wedding planning information. The Knot's televised documentary series, "Real Weddings from The Knot," was the highest rated original program on The Oxygen Network in January 2004. Ten more episodes have been ordered up for 2004/5. Past episodes, along with bridal fashion specials, will be archived for on-demand viewing on Comcast's "The Knot Weddings."
"The Knot Weddings" programming will be promoted to over two million brides and grooms who visit TheKnot.com each month via direct email, banners and print promotions in The Knot magazines, THE KNOT national magazine and The Knot Weddings regional publications.
ON DEMAND, a feature of Comcast Digital Cable, offers customers hundreds of programs they can select any time they want. ON DEMAND also offers customers the ability to pause, rewind and fast-forward their selections, giving them the most choice and control in their home entertainment experience.
