Sensors Magazine Presents Crossbow Technology With Gold and Silver Honors at 2004 Best of Sensors Expo Awards

SAN JOSE, Calif.--()--Aug. 9, 2004--

Crossbow's New, Innovative NAV420 and MICAz Products Recognized

Crossbow Technology, Inc., the leading manufacturer of MEMS-based sensor systems, today announced that the editors of Sensors magazine presented the company with two awards at the Best of Sensors Expo Awards at the Sensors Expo & Conference in Detroit.

Sensors' editors and key industry advisors evaluated the entries using several criteria, including potential impact on the way people work, timeliness and availability, distinctiveness, and the ability to serve a real need.

In the Sensors Products category, the top Gold award was given to Crossbow's new NAV420 MEMS-based navigation and Attitude and Heading Reference System (AHRS), which Sensors said: "The star in the Sensors category is a clever, real-time position, velocity, attitude, and heading system equipped with a built-in GPS receiver, MEMS accelerometers, MEMS-based rate sensor, and magnetometer. It allows local position and heading information tied in with location data for applications such as land vehicle guidance, UAV control, and platform stabilization."

In the Communications and Networking Products category, a Silver award was given to Crossbow for its new MICAz wireless measurement system. Sensors wrote: "This is the latest incarnation of the company's Smart Dust wireless sensor network products. The product is small, battery powered, and designed for high-bandwidth applications that require reliable operation, even in harsh indoor environments. The RF transceiver is 802.15.4/ZigBee compliant and includes hardware encryption for data security."

"These awards highlight products that have the greatest potential to change the way people work and live," said Barbara G. Goode, editorial director for Sensors and Frontline Solutions magazines. "Sensors are approaching ubiquity thanks to innovations such as the ones we recognize with the Best of Sensors Expo awards. Because these products work behind the scenes, most of us do not fully appreciate their impact, but that fact makes it no less real."
