New this year in the Breakaway Solutions Pavilion is the CompTIA RFID Exploration Zone, where conference attendees can get hands-on experience with different elements of RFID and learn more about this important technology from the experts. The Exploration Zone will feature four education stations.
-- The Anatomy of an RFID Tag, presented by Zebra Technologies, a leader in on-demand printing solutions for business and process improvement, and a pioneer in the targeted adoption of RFID for global business. Participants will learn about the parts of a passive RFID tag and how it works; how RFID tags are printed and encoded; and will have the opportunity to see RFID tag printing and encoding.
-- RFID Tag Reading and Middleware, presented by Matrics, a global leader in the design and manufacture of EPC-compliant RFID systems. At this station, visitors will see how RFID tag readers operate and learn how middleware is used to filter and manage information.
-- Leveraging RFID Within the Supply Chain and Electronic Commerce, presented by Insync Software, developer of InSync Edgeware(TM), a class of direct connect, RFID-enabled, business applications at the edge of the enterprise. This station will show the technology in action, demonstrating how RFID can be integrated with supply chain and electronic commerce business processes.
-- RFID Testing, presented by ODIN technologies, a leader in every component of the RFID infrastructure - the Physics of an RFID network - from testing, designing and planning to production implementation.
The Exploration Zone demonstrations will complement RFID educational sessions on the Breakaway 2004 conference agenda. Scheduled speakers include representative from American Power Conversion Corp., SAP, ScanSource, Texas Instruments, and Zebra Technologies. Among the scheduled sessions are discussions on how to bring together an adaptive RFID solution for the supply chain; creating a business plan for RFID; how resellers and system integrators can profit from RFID deployment opportunities; and case studies of RFID deployments from the vendor and end user perspectives.
The RFID emphasis at Breakaway 2004 is a continuation of CompTIA's efforts to address issues related to are how RFID will impact the IT supply chain; how the IT industry can interact with supply chains in other industry sectors; and providing ongoing RFID education and training for resellers, solution providers and other audiences.
