| RadiantOne(TM) 4.0 Combines the Best of Virtual and Metadirectory Functionalities with a High Performance Cache, Flexible Interception Scripts, and Dynamic Joins |
“We needed to aggregate lots of attributes that were tied to an identity through primary and foreign key relationships. By using the virtual directory to build a common model, we were able to decide what we needed to synchronize and what we could virtualize based on our business requirements”
Radiant Logic, Inc., a leading provider of virtual directory solutions, today launched a major new version of its complete virtualization solution for speeding design, integration and deployment of identities. RadiantOne 4.0 combines the best elements of virtual and metadirectories to deliver a simpler, faster standards-based integration of identity and profile attributes required by access management, portal and provisioning projects.
In a recent report,(1) Gartner Research estimates that by 2008, virtual directories will be commonly used as a logically centralized identity service to aggregate or reconcile multiple namespaces and security domains in heterogeneous IT infrastructure. The launch of RadiantOne 4.0 comes at a time when Radiant Logic is experiencing a fast adoption of its virtual directory products across many industries such as telecom, financial, media, government and energy. The New York Independent System Operator (NYISO) uses Radiant Logic's current virtual directory to integrate disparate data from many sources for their access control initiatives.
"We needed to aggregate lots of attributes that were tied to an identity through primary and foreign key relationships. By using the virtual directory to build a common model, we were able to decide what we needed to synchronize and what we could virtualize based on our business requirements," said Jeff Sobel, Senior Analyst, Enterprise Architecture and Technology Innovation, NYISO. "There were stringent requirements for granular security, as well as the need to update and synchronize all data sources. Radiant Logic has significantly contributed to the deployment of our security framework and will contribute to our upcoming portal upgrade by acting as an abstraction layer that allows us to code to one logical directory while providing the ability to connect to multiple heterogeneous sources on the backend."
RadiantOne 4.0 is a complete and solid solution that combines the best elements of meta and virtual directories by building on a common logical model to become an integral part of identity management deployments. RadiantOne 4.0 is more focused on the exact security requirements of the identity management and portal applications and offers the following features:
-- Flexible, On-the-Fly Interception Scripts for Authentication - Equivalent to triggers and store procedure in the database world. Search and Update adds extra flexibility and simplifies integration tasks in complex security tasks such as advanced authentication (for example, Smart card and Biometrics) and Single Sign On
-- Persistent Cache (full LDAP V3 store) - Brings high performance and resilience to system failure
-- Ability to support custom data sources through Web Services or API wrapping
-- Ability to reuse existing group and role definitions in new projects through virtualization
-- Support for Multi-protocols: LDAP, SOAP/WEB services, DSML 2.0, SPML
Michel Prompt, CEO of Radiant Logic, calls 4.0 a service-oriented virtual directory because it does much more than just dynamically collect data: "We have perfected the ability to gather and deliver the right information for identity management and portal projects," he said. "We are offering a virtual directory that creates an abstraction layer, a logical model that leverages and shields the existing IT infrastructure while delivering the extended views required by security and new applications."
