Sorrent to Bring Deer Hunter to Mobile Phones

E3Expo 2004
LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 13, 2004--At a press luncheon today at the Electronic Entertainment Exposition (E3), Sorrent, Inc., a leading creator and global publisher of mobile entertainment, announced that it has signed a multi-year, worldwide licensing agreement with Atari, Inc. (Nasdaq:ATAR), a leader in interactive entertainment, to develop and publish wireless games based on Atari's Deer Hunter(TM) franchise. Sorrent will launch its first mobile game based on the Deer Hunter franchise this fall, simultaneous with Atari's worldwide launch of Deer Hunter 2005 for PC.

"Deer Hunter is one the best-selling outdoor game franchises of all time and is exactly the kind of title that will appeal to today's mobile gamer," said Greg Ballard, president and CEO of Sorrent. "Our mobile game will appeal to both casual and core gamers; offering the serenity of world-class hunting locations and the rush of the hunt. We are proud that Atari has entrusted Sorrent with Deer Hunter, one of its most successful original franchises."

“Our mobile game will appeal to both casual and core gamers; offering the serenity of world-class hunting locations and the rush of the hunt. We are proud that Atari has entrusted Sorrent with Deer Hunter, one of its most successful original franchises.”

The Deer Hunter franchise is considered the most realistic, accurate and addictive deer hunting game in the market. Deer Hunter has been the leading hunting brand since 1997 and has sold more than 4.6 million games through 2003.

"Sorrent understands that mobile gamers are like PC or console gamers -- they demand the same adventure and excitement on mobile that they enjoy on other platforms," said Wim Stocks, EVP of sales and marketing for Atari, Inc. "For a key title like Deer Hunter, we found a partner in Sorrent who will maximize the mobile phone's capabilities and deliver the high-quality gameplay that our loyal customers value."

Deer Hunter will be available on major wireless carriers around the world in Q3 of 2004.
