| Research into Nanotechnology in France : a 50 million Euro increase in 2003 |
Research and Markets (http://www.researchandmarkets.com) has announced the addition of Nanotechnology in France to their offering.
In France, microsystems technologies and nanoelectronics are the main focus of nanotechnology research. Until 2002 France was a relatively small player in Europe in terms of funding for nanotechnology, but this year announced a new 50 million Euro research action. Initiatives will include a nanotechnology research programme a 'micro-nano' technology network and a considerable proportion will be spent strengthening France's position in microelectronics.
Nanoscale research is conducted in dozens of Cnrs research institutes throughout the country and major corporations are actively involved including Aventis, STMicroelectronics and Air Liquide.
A multimillion-euro centre, Minatec has been established in Grenoble, based at the CEA Leti research lab. This will be the main centre in France and aims to collaborate research, industrial development, and education. It will also host start-up companies, assist in pilot programs for medium-sized companies and contribute to the R&D programmes of large companies.
This report gives an overview of nanotechnology activities in France, including all the major actors, programmes, networks and companies, with full contact details.
