Thomas E. Lankford, president and chief operating officer of SYSCO, said Mr. Floersheimer, 49, began his career in 1976 as a marketing associate at Ritter Food Corporation, the predecessor company to SYSCO's current Jersey City, N.J., operation. In 1981 he was named assistant to the president of that company, with responsibilities for construction and material handling projects. Mr. Floersheimer became vice president and assistant general manager of the Jersey City operation in 1983, advanced to vice president of merchandising in 1991, vice president of merchandising and marketing in 1993, and in 2000 he received the added duties as vice president of information systems. From 1997 to 2000 he also served on SYSCO's Merchandising Advisory Council.
Mr. Floersheimer was born in Morris County, N.J. He is a 1975 graduate from Temple University, located in Philadelphia, where he earned a bachelor of science degree in communication.
