Altech-Eco Receives Final EPA Certification for Its 2010 Ford Transit Connect BI-FUEL CNG/Gasoline Conversion System; World’s First 2010 EPA Approved Bi-Fueled Taxi

ASHEVILLE, N.C.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--In connection with Ford’s announcement today concerning the advantages of a Ford Transit Connect natural gas Taxi, Altech-Eco Corporation of Asheville, North Carolina separately announced today that they have obtained the world’s first and only Certificate of Conformity (COC) from the EPA for their BI-FUEL 2010 Ford Transit Connect compressed natural gas (CNG) conversion system. The “bi-fueled” system means that the Transit Connect can operate on either natural gas, or on gasoline, with just the simple press of a dashboard button to instantly switch the fuels, with a driving range over 700 miles on a single fill-up.

A Bi-fueled natural gas vehicle allows users to take advantage of the widespread availability of gasoline along with the convenient option of using a cleaner burning and more economical alternative when natural gas is available. This flexibility makes the bi-fuel conversion perfect for many business especially Taxi Fleets, Wine or Flower Merchants, Catering and Delivery Services, Contractors, and additionally families as well.

Altech-Eco’s EPA approved Bi-Fuel 2010 CNG Ford Transit Connect conversion system converts the Transit Connect to run on two fuels, either gasoline or CNG. For those preferring to eliminate gasoline entirely, a 100% CNG “dedicated version” is also available. The complete conversion system includes CNG cylinders with fuel storage capacity starting at 10.6 GGE (Gas Gallon Equivalent), and a CNG average of 31 mpg on the highway and 25 in the city.
