MIAMI LAKES, Fla.--()--BankUnited has named Randy R. Melby executive vice president and chief risk officer. In his new role Melby will be responsible for risk oversight, which includes loan review; internal audit; compliance, including BSA and AML; corporate fraud investigations and overall operations and credit risk management.
Melby joins BankUnited from Washington Mutual/JP Morgan Chase in Seattle, where he served as senior vice president and general auditor for five years. Before this, he spent 24 years with Norwest Corporation and Wells Fargo. He held a variety of leadership positions in the internal audit, risk management and commercial loan operations areas.
Active in industry associations, Melby is a member of the Institute of Internal Auditors and a graduate of the BAI Graduate School of Bank Operations & Technology. He is a frequent keynote speaker for industry associations and national audit conferences.
Melby holds bachelor’s degrees in accounting and management from the University of North Dakota.
