Everyday Solutions, Inc. Selected as Transportation Technology Provider for Los Angeles Unified School District

CONCORD, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Everyday Solutions, Inc., the leading provider of integrated solutions for School Transportation Information, announced today that Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) has awarded the company a three year contract valued at $2.05 million to provide GPS-driven applications for use on district owned school buses and service vehicles. LAUSD is the second largest school district in the United States, serving more than 59,000 traveling students daily.

Before awarding the business, LAUSD’s Transportation Services Division solicited proposals from GPS technology providers based on a number of criteria including student safety, information accessibility, maintenance cost savings, strategic goal alignment and staff accountability. The three finalists performed a 60-day pilot during which each vendor equipped four buses and empowered committee members to monitor bus activities with Web-based software. After evaluating the GPS systems for ease-of-use and checking customer references for each vendor, LAUSD selected Everyday Solutions, Inc. to be their GPS solution provider.

The GPS-driven applications will make it possible to improve the following areas:

Student Safety: A student tracking component and an expanded emergency response system will reduce dependence on two-way radio communications.

Maintenance Cost Savings: Vehicle maintenance cost reductions will result from decreased fuel consumption, improved scheduling and more accurate recording of time and miles traveled.

Information Accessibility: The Web-based system will provide real-time vehicle location status through the immediate retrieval of stored information.

Strategic Goal Alignment: Access to improved information ensures that strategic goals are effectively tied to performance objectives and measures. New performance measures and the ability to quickly update existing initiatives will enable the district to readily adjust practices.

Staff Accountability: Improved reporting tools will allow district employees to better perform job duties. Access to improved management reports will be effectively factored into performance accountabilities.

Due to the contract’s piggyback provision, all school districts in California can bypass a costly Request for Proposal (RFP) process and are eligible to purchase items from Everyday Solutions, Inc. at the same price that was negotiated by LAUSD for Invitation For Bid (IFB) NO.C-1028.
