Irish Voice and Irish American Magazine Name Thorp Reed & Armstrong’s Anne D. Mullaney to “Irish Legal 100”

Mullaney has been named by the Irish Voice Newspaper and Irish America Magazine to the second annual “Irish Legal 100.” The list, a compilation of the most distinguished and accomplished lawyers of Irish descent in America, will be published as a special supplement in the November issue of Irish America Magazine. An awards ceremony and reception celebrating the recipients was held in Washington D.C. at the home of Michael Collins, Irish Ambassador to the U.S., on Wednesday, November 11^th.

This prestigious record, which includes past honorees such as Supreme Court Justice Anthony Kennedy and Chief Justice John Roberts, recognizes lawyers from around the country who share a passion for the law and pride in their heritage. The list was first created in 2008 in an effort to foster closer bonds between Irish attorneys in the United States and their heritage, and touts the top legal minds of Irish descent in the country. Ms. Mullaney was named for her distinguished reputation within the legal field and her connection to her Irish heritage. She participates in several Irish initiatives, serves on the board of the Pittsburgh Irish and Classical Theater, and is a member of the Ireland Institute. In addition, Ms. Mullaney owns Mullaney’s Harp & Fiddle, an authentic Irish pub located in the Strip District of Pittsburgh. Opened in 1992, the Harp & Fiddle is toted as an Irish cultural center for Pittsburgh, featuring Ceili dancing every Tuesday night, readings, and other cultural activities.

Prior to practicing law, Ms. Mullaney was the Chief Operating Officer at Peterson Hospital in Wheeling, West Virginia. She is currently the co-leader of Thorp Reed & Armstrong’s Health Care Practice Group, where she focuses her practice on the representation of health care providers, including urban and rural hospitals, physician groups, medical staffs, home health and hospice providers, rehabilitation companies, and a 300 member Independent Physician Association. Additionally, she serves as special counsel to healthcare clients on a wide variety of issues including the structuring of hospital-physician joint ventures, regulatory compliance, HIPAA, managed care contract negotiations, and hospital-medical staff relations. Anne received her B.A. from Saint Mary’s College at Notre Dame and her J.D. from Duquesne University School of Law.
