Mastrian’s long and distinguished career began after his graduation from the University of Pittsburgh in 1965 when he joined Peoples Drug Stores, Inc., as a Pharmacist. Over the years, he has held positions of increasing responsibility, including President and General Manager of Gray Drug Fair stores; Senior Vice President, Merchandising and Marketing for The Sherwin-Williams Company; and Executive Vice President of Merchandising and Marketing of Office Max, Inc. In July 1998, he joined Rite Aid as an Executive Vice President of Category Management. He served as Executive Vice President of Marketing, Logistics and Pharmacy Services before being named the company’s Chief Operating Officer in 2005.
Mastrian’s decades of experience in the retail drug industry led him to receive the prestigious Distinguished Alumni Award from the University of Pittsburgh’s School of Pharmacy and most recently received the Sheldon W. Fantle Lifetime Achievement Award from the National Association of Chain Drug Stores.
