PARIS--()--The Municipal People’s Government of Chengdu (Province of Sichuan) has commissioned the French group STRATEGECO SOLAR ENEOVIA to hold the Solar Energy Fair from September 4 through 6, 2009 and the New Energy int’I Forum from September 4 through 5, 2009. The main sponsors are the Chinese Association of Renewable Energies, the United Nations Development Program, the Japan Photovoltaic Energy Association, the German Development Office and major manufacturers.
As part of the 11th five-year plan (2007–2011) and China’s stimulus plan announced during the 1st quarter of 2009, the Chinese Central Government will invest 400 billion dollars in renewable energies, mainly in photovoltaic and solar thermal energy, over the next ten years. China has chosen to focus on the Province of Sichuan in terms of investment and energy infrastructure. The region contains almost 70% of the country’s silicon.
Professionals in the photovoltaic and solar thermal sector, as well as a large number of customers interested in investing in the know-how of Western countries, are expected to attend this first edition. Bringing together the main scientific experts from China and abroad, the event is expected to attract over 10,000 visitors from over 20 different countries. As the fast track to innovation, the fair and forum will offer a chance for companies to meet leaders in the solar industry, position themselves on the Chinese market and benefit from new opportunities to foster partnerships and gain a share of the market.
