Impact Medical Solutions, Inc. (dba iTech Medical) Expands Clinical Pilot Study of MPR System to California

Impact Medical Solutions, Inc. (dba iTech Medical) (OTCBB: IMSU) announces MPR clinical trials at the Long Beach Memorial Hospital campus with the Rehabilitation Associates Medical Group and in Anaheim, CA with Advanced Clinical Research Institute. Muscle Pattern Recognition (MPR) technology is the first quantitative tool developed for assisting in the diagnosis of the presence or absence of a musculoskeletal dysfunction (sprain/strain injuries) in a patient population.

HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif.--()--iTech Medical (OTCBB: IMSU, FWB: 0IM), an information technology company, today announced that it will be expanding its pilot clinical study of the Company’s proprietary information technology platform, Muscle Pattern Recognition (MPR) to Southern California. The two sites that have been selected to participate in the trial are the Rehabilitation Associates Medical Group, located on the campus of the Long Beach Memorial Hospital, under the direction of Dr. Richard Adams, and the Advanced Clinical Research Institute in Anaheim, CA, under the direction of Dr. Dennis Riff. MPR is a patented clinical tool that analyzes patterns of muscle recruitment. It provides detailed physiological information on muscle function that can assist in the diagnosis and treatment of back and neck injuries and illness.

“We believe the availability of our MPR System as an evaluation tool to a healthcare provider for patients with soft tissue, non-surgical neck or back complaints will substantially improve the accuracy of diagnosis, rehabilitation and case management decisions”

“We’re very excited to be moving forward with Dr. Adams and his team at the Rehabilitation Associates Medical Group as well as Dr. Riff and his group at Advanced Clinical Research Institute,” states Dr. Alan Goldman, Vice President for Clinical and Medical Affairs for iTech Medical. “We believe the population in Long Beach and Anaheim has an appropriate cross section of the American population in gender, ethnicity and employment/occupational diversity to become a valuable center for our clinical research. The current waiting period for the trial at the Utah Spine and Joint Center is roughly four weeks and we felt it was an appropriate time to expand the number of sites participating in our study.”

“Sprains and strains are the most common reason for back and neck pain and the second most frequent reason, after the common cold, for a visit to a doctor’s office, so it’s no surprise that the interest in our study is so strong.” said Dr. Goldman. “We believe the availability of our MPR System as an evaluation tool to a healthcare provider for patients with soft tissue, non-surgical neck or back complaints will substantially improve the accuracy of diagnosis, rehabilitation and case management decisions,” added Goldman.

The Company announced that it had already completed testing on more than 250 study subjects for the clinical trial in Salt Lake City, UT since the trial was first announced on February 25, 2009 and that patient recruitment continues to be strong and is ongoing.

About the California Clinical Pilot Study on MPR

iTech Medical is currently conducting a pilot clinical trial of its proprietary MPR System with the goal of accumulating sufficient data to initiate a pivotal, independent clinical trial before the end of 2009. The two new sites in California are expected to recruit additional subjects through contact with surrounding universities, doctors, therapy groups, physical therapy schools, advertising, posting in hospitals and word of mouth, as well as the existing database of patients of both new centers. The trial is expected to involve several hundred subjects, many of whom are experiencing chronic back pain.
