CHICAGO--()--Cognitive Drug Research, Ltd (CDR) and Provident Clinical Research & Consulting, Inc. (Provident) announced a strategic partnership to provide comprehensive clinical trial services to evaluate the cognitive effects of functional foods, food additives, consumer health products and dietary supplements. The partnership brings together CDR’s 25 years of experience as the research industry’s leading computerized cognitive assessment provider and Provident’s internationally-recognized expertise in providing both consultative and clinical services to the food and consumer health industries.
“Our companies not only possess aligned missions to enhance research and awareness within the consumer health and food industries, but we also possess a strong commitment to quality, scientifically-based research.”
“This partnership provides a unique opportunity for all types of food, nutrition, dietary supplement and ingredient companies to draw on a single source for consultation, design, implementation and analysis of their products with regard to cognitive function,” said Provident President/Chief Science Officer, Kevin C. Maki, PhD. “We have a strong understanding of the goals and objectives of this industry and have structured our organizations to meet those needs.”
CDR and Provident have collaborated on a number of successful programs. This non-exclusive partnership will include the designation of Provident’s research clinics in Addison, Illinois, and Bloomington, Indiana, as CDR Centres of Excellence. CDR cognitive test systems will be permanently installed on site and Provident’s staff will be certified on the proper administration of The CDR System. The companies also plan to develop a series of investigator-initiated projects and participate in joint scientific presentations and publications.
The CDR Centres of Excellence will conduct research necessary to meet Food and Drug Administration and Federal Trade Commission guidance on claims addressing the memory and attention effects of food and nutrition products.
“We recognized significant synergies which could be enhanced through a defined partnership,” added CDR Vice President, Steven T. Satek. “Our companies not only possess aligned missions to enhance research and awareness within the consumer health and food industries, but we also possess a strong commitment to quality, scientifically-based research.”
