NATICK, Mass.--()--BJ’s Wholesale Club, Inc. (NYSE: BJ) today announced the election of Christine Cournoyer, president and chief operating officer of Picis, Inc., to its board of directors. Ms. Cournoyer is a leader across healthcare and information technology sectors and was named Top 100 Women in Business by Boston Magazine in 2003, and Top Ten Women in Technology by Business Week in 2001.
Commenting on the appointment, BJ’s chairman and CEO Herb Zarkin, said, “We are extremely pleased to welcome Chris Cournoyer to the BJ’s Wholesale Club Board of Directors. Chris brings a wealth of experience in information technology and will be a tremendous asset to BJ’s management team as we move forward in our multi-year plan to upgrade and replace many of our technological reporting systems.”
Picis, Inc., based in Wakefield, Massachusetts, is a worldwide provider of software solutions for automating resource-intensive hospital documentation and business practices. Picis has sales and technical support staff throughout North America, Europe and Asia, and employs more than 720 perioperative, emergency department and critical care experts, including engineers, customer service staff and product managers.
Ms. Cournoyer joined Picis, Inc., in 2006 from Harte Hanks, Inc., where she served as managing director from 2005 to 2006. Prior to Harte Hanks, she served as president and chief operating officer of Lightbridge, Inc., a leading provider of outsourced customer analytics. From 1996 to 2002 Ms. Cournoyer held senior management positions at IBM, including vice president of Business Transformation, vice president of Customer Operations and Technology, and chief information officer of the software group.
Ms. Cournoyer received her B.S. in Business Administration from the University of Massachusetts at Lowell, and a M.A. in Economics from Northeastern University where she is a Ph.D. candidate. Ms. Cournoyer recently served on the Boards of Directors of Stride Rite Corporation and GTECH Corporation.
