Michael Proper Gathers Another World Class Team of IT Innovators to Launch CentralPointe
CentralPointe Provides the World’s Most Integrated, Comprehensive and Easy-to-Use IT Management Platform for Small and Distributed Environments
SALT LAKE CITY--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Today, President and CEO, Michael Proper and his newly formed world class team of IT industry innovators, announce the launch of CentralPointe, Inc. CentralPointe integrates, simplifies and opens a core IT management and delivery platform to the world. The platform is designed to serve the unique needs of small and distributed environments that traditional solutions have not met. Michael Proper started an IT services company named DirectPointe in 2000 and grew it into the world’s #1 Managed Service Provider, managing customers' IT environments in all 50 US States and 29 Countries around the world.
“We've already integrated hundreds of open source technologies and cloud enabled services including Google Apps and Microsoft Hosted Exchange. We are geared up and excited for the opportunities that lie ahead.”
CentralPointe integrates cloud enabled services and open source software into a unified platform. CentralPointe’s WebConfig is a web based interface that makes all of these isolated technologies work together seamlessly for the benefit of service providers, end users and developers on almost any x86 hardware standard. WebConfig currently integrates with CentOS, a popular Linux distribution based on Red Hat Enterprise Linux. The integrated product creates the CentralPointe Server which provides the server and network gateway functions for small and distributed environments.
“Currently, there are over 250,000 open source projects and hundreds of cloud-based applications in development,” said Proper. “Our focus is to take the best technologies that are proven, relevant and robust and integrate them into a single platform. We believe integration is the next innovation.”
In addition to software integration, CentralPointe created the Service Delivery Network, a load balanced network hosted around the world. The Service Delivery Network distributes critical updates and services such as intrusion detection, content filtration, anti-virus, anti-spam, dynamic DNS, remote backup, reporting and security tools for compliance and management tools for administration. CentralPointe organizes all of these features and tools in its WebConfig interface that is both simple to learn and simple to use.
CentralPointe furthers innovation by opening the platform to developers and end users around the world. CentralPointe’s core technology, the CentralPointe Server, is open and free to use. The CentralPointe WebConfig and Service Delivery Network have fully developed APIs that are open to a community of developers that are helping expedite the collaboration of integration and testing.
The vast majority of the world’s businesses operate in small and distributed environments. According to US census data, there is an average of 16 employees per location among the six million US businesses. Even in businesses with over 500 employees, there is an average of only 53 employees per location. The CentralPointe platform is designed to seamlessly scale and interconnect this large market of small and distributed business environments.
“There isn’t another platform on the market that compares with what we have already accomplished—and we are just getting started,” said Proper. “We've already integrated hundreds of open source technologies and cloud enabled services including Google Apps and Microsoft Hosted Exchange. We are geared up and excited for the opportunities that lie ahead.”
