PureSafety Donates Online Safety Training to Whirlpool® Building Blocks Volunteers in Dallas
NASHVILLE, Tenn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--PureSafety announced today that for the third consecutive year it will provide free online safety training for volunteers participating in the 2008 Whirlpool® Building Blocks community build. Whirlpool brand, Habitat for Humanity and approximately 250 volunteers will unite in Dallas to build nine homes in five days for nine deserving partner families. The Whirlpool® Building Blocks program was created to raise awareness of the affordable housing crisis and to support Habitat’s mission to eliminate substandard housing.
“The Whirlpool® Building Blocks program is a perfect example of what we strive to do at PureSafety—empower people to do more with more,” said Bill Grana, PureSafety’s President and CEO. “As we saw firsthand when the program came to Nashville in 2006, the Whirlpool® Building Blocks build truly makes a difference in people’s lives and has a positive impact on the entire community. We are proud to contribute our online safety training to this excellent program.”
Each year, the Whirlpool® Building Blocks program recognizes an outstanding Habitat for Humanity affiliate and its relationship with its local community by holding a week-long building blitz. This year’s build will take place in the Greenleaf Village II neighborhood of West Dallas from November 17 to 21, just in time for the holidays. From start to finish, the volunteers will raise roofs, landscape, paint, and perform all other tasks to build the homes in just five days.
“Substandard housing is a major issue in this country, so giving thanks will take on a whole new meaning this year for the nine Dallas families as they work to construct their homes in time for the holiday season,” said Ellen Taaffe, vice president, Mass Brands, Whirlpool Corporation. “Since 1999, Whirlpool has supported Habitat in its mission to provide simple, decent housing. Together with Habitat for Humanity International and the local Habitat affiliate, we’re committed to helping achieve that goal, one block at a time.”
The Whirlpool® Building Blocks volunteers in Dallas will take PureSafety courses covering Hand and Power Tool Safety, Ladder Safety and Preventing Back Injuries. All volunteers will have the opportunity to complete their assigned safety training via the Internet from the comfort of their own home or office, and Whirlpool® Building Blocks managers can track and manage the completion of the training the very same way.
