Bandwidth.com Deploys Ditech Networks Solution to Support Web 2.0 and VoIP Applications

Bandwidth.com, an Industry Innovator, Deploys Ditech Product to Measure and Optimize Voice for Web and VoIP Applications

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Ditech Networks (NASDAQ:DITC), a leading provider of voice quality solutions to the worlds communications industry, today announced that Bandwidth.com, an innovative business communications provider, has purchased and installed Ditechs Packet Voice Processor (PVP) solution to support Web 2.0 and VoIP applications. Bandwidth.com is using PVP to bridge the voice quality gap between Web 2.0 and the public switched telephony network (PSTN).

Bandwidth.coms customers make extensive use of Web 2.0 VoIP applications. Many of these Internet Protocol-based applications are accessed by subscribers using mobile or landline phones and PSTN networks. Transporting voice across multiple IP and PSTN networks can create a measurable degradation in voice quality, causing subscriber dissatisfaction and slowing the adoption of internet voice applications that rely on voice.

At Bandwidth.com, we devote significant resources to ensuring the quality of our VoIP services. Employing Ditechs Packet Voice Processor provides us with additional tools to ensure that we deliver superior voice service to our customers, said T.R. Missner, Vice President of Network Engineering at Bandwidth.com. Ditechs solution delivers information on call quality in real-time, enabling us to be more responsive to network impairments and to proactively optimize our Web 2.0 and VoIP applications that utilize voice.

Bandwidth.com has deployed PVP with two of Ditechs voice quality applications: Experience Intelligence (EXi), and Voice Quality Assurance (VQA). EXi non-intrusively measures speech quality in real-time, on every call. Information from EXi about signal, noise, echo, and packet loss can be input into an industry-standard model to compute MOS or R-Factor scores that indicate what kind of voice quality was experienced by callers. VQA non-intrusively and automatically detects and eliminates problems that degrade voice quality. The application mitigates web- and network-induced impairments, impairments from the callers environment, and impairments from the callers device, in real-time, on both ends of the call.

Bandwidth.com has earned a reputation in the business communications services industry as a technology innovator. The company now utilizes PVP to measure and optimize voice quality for Web 2.0 and VoIP applications, which helps Bandwidth.com to differentiate itself as a consistent and reliable provider of fast-growing IP-based services.

Bandwidth.com has taken Ditechs solution into the Web 2.0 space to satisfy customer demand for voice quality, said Karl Brown, Vice President of Marketing at Ditech Networks. Bandwidth.com has constructed a cutting-edge, next-generation network that serves a wide variety of customers. Examining voice quality impairments on Web 2.0 and VoIP telephony applications with EXi, and then resolving those problems with VQA, validated Ditechs impact on these kinds of applications.
