LOS ANGELES--()--With one day to go before the end of the May 2008 sweep period, Univisions flagship station, KMEX Univision 34, delivered more Adult 18-49 viewers than any other station in the United States, regardless of language, for total day and the key dayparts of primetime, early evening local news and late local news.

Univisions KMEX-TV continues to rank as the highest rated station in Los Angeles, regardless of language, in key adult demographics. According to the Nielsen Station Index (NSI), among Adults 18-34, 18-49, and 25-54, KMEX-TV was the top rated station in the competitive dayparts of daytime, early fringe, news and primetime.

  • The May 2008 sweep ratings period marks the fifth May and 17th consecutive major sweeps where KMEX-TV has ranked as L.A.s top rated station in average primetime ratings for all key adult demographics. Further, KMEX-TV was the top rated station among Adults 18-49 in primetime for 24 of the 27 days during May sweep.
  • The April 28th premiere of 9 p.m. novela Fuego en la Sangre (Burning for Revenge) gave KMEX-TV its highest novel premiere since the launch of LPM service in Los Angeles in August 2004. It was also the top rated primetime program among Adults 18-34 and 18-49 during the sweep with higher average ratings than Dancing with the Stars (KABC-TV), The Office (KNBC-TV) and American Idol (KTTV-TV).

News Ratings Highlights

  • KMEX-TV ranked #1 during the 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. weekday news hour, with both its local newscast, Noticias 34 (News 34) and network news, Noticiero Univision (Univision News) delivering higher ratings among all key demographics (Adults 18-34, 18-49, and 25-54) than their English-language competitors. Noticias 34 has ranked #1 at 6 p.m. among Adults 18-34 and Adults 18-49 in every Nielsen sweep for 57 consecutive major sweeps (since May 1994).
  • KMEX-TV posted the highest ratings during the 11 p.m. local news half hour, with, Noticias 34 Edición Nocturna (News 34 Evening Edition) among Adults 18-34, 18-49, and 25-54. Further, Noticias 34 Edición Nocturna showed ratings increases over May 2007s results among all of the above adults demos.
  • KMEX-TVs Sunday morning newsmaker discussion program Al Punto (To the Point) with Jorge Ramos averaged higher ratings than Meet the Press (KNBC-TV), This Week (KABC-TV), Face the Nation (KCBS-TV) and Chris Matthews (KNBC-TV) among Adults 18-34, 18-49, and 25-54.

Ratings Highlights for Other Key Dayparts

  • In daytime (Monday-Friday, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.), KMEX-TV averaged much higher ratings among all key adults and women demographics than every other station. The top program in daytime among all key adults and women demos was KMEX-TVs Bajo las Riendas del Amor (Reins of Love) from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m., surpassing the combined ratings of The View (KABC-TV), Martha (KNBC-TV), and The Price is Right (KCBS-TV).
  • KMEX-TV also continues to rank as the highest rated station in early fringe (Monday-Friday, 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.) leading with Lola Erase Una Vez (Lola Once Upon A Time) from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. averaging higher Adults 18-34, 18-49 and 25-54 ratings than all other early fringe programming including The Oprah Winfrey Show (KABC-TV), Dr. Phil (KCBS-TV) and Ellen (KNBC-TV).
