Media Advisory: CPSC Chairwoman to Address National Retail Federation Washington Leadership Conference
WASHINGTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Consumer Product Safety Commission Acting Chairwoman Nancy Nord will be the keynote speaker when the nation’s major retail companies gather in Washington this week for the National Retail Federation’s 73rd annual Washington Leadership Conference.
Nord is scheduled to speak at 12:45 p.m., Tuesday, May 13, in the main ballroom of the National Press Club, 13th Floor, 529 14th St. NW, Washington, D.C. Nord is expected to address product safety legislation pending in Congress and recent CPSC initiatives to enhance the agency’s ability to protect U.S. consumers. The event is open to the news media and coverage is invited. Media should check in beginning at 12:15 p.m.
More than 150 government affairs executives from major retail companies, owners of independent Main Street stores, and representatives of state retail associations are scheduled to attend the conference. In addition to hearing from Nord, participants will lobby Congress on a variety of issues important to the retail industry including product safety, “card check” legislation that would make it easier for unions to organize retail workers, employee health insurance, international trade, credit card processing fees, tax policy and other topics.
