SCOTTSDALE, Ariz.--()--It’s hard to believe in this day and age, but nearly half the small businesses in the United States don’t have a dedicated Web site – this according to a recent report from research firm IDC.
“The Internet is increasingly used by customers as an information source, so a firm that doesn’t have a Web presence will be at a disadvantage when prospects are conducting a search”
IDC’s small business Internet forecast study estimated that 4.46 million small businesses would have a Web site by the end of 2007. But that represents only 53.9 percent of all the small businesses in the U.S.!
Go Daddy, a world leader in helping small and medium sized businesses build an online presence with ease and speed, believes there’s no reason to be one of the millions of entrepreneurs out there without a Web address.
“In today’s marketplace, you need to be online in order to be competitive,” said Go Daddy CEO and Founder Bob Parsons. “We can get you up and running as quickly as anyone in the business. With our support, prices and reliability, you don’t need to be a tech whiz, invest lots of time or spend hundreds of dollars to do it.”
With more and more consumers using search engines as a basic research tool, firms that don’t tout their products and services on the Internet could be missing out on valuable business, said Ray Boggs, vice president of SMB research at IDC.
“The Internet is increasingly used by customers as an information source, so a firm that doesn’t have a Web presence will be at a disadvantage when prospects are conducting a search,” said Boggs, who authored the IDC forecast report.
