Crisp Acquires IMSafer for Enhanced Online Child Protection Solutions and Establishes US Headquarters
Combined Expertise Further Enables Parents to Protect Their Children
BEAVERTON, Ore.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Crisp, the UK child safety technology specialist, has completed the acquisition of IMSafer to become the world's foremost provider of child protection solutions for parents and social networks on the Internet. IMSafer is a highly recognized Internet child safety brand that will remain the consumer product identity of the merged company globally. Additionally, the US headquarters for Crisp has been established in Beaverton, Oregon.
“The overriding goals of both Crisp and IMSafer are to protect children from online predators. Together, we provide a unique proposition, which allows young people the freedom to explore the Internet while giving parents the peace of mind that their children are protected,” said Tommy McClung, Co-Founder of IMSafer and new General Manager of Crisp US. Current Crisp executives and staff are now located in the Oregon office and hiring has begun to augment the current US team.
The IMSafer software identifies abusive and sexual concepts and phrases and immediately informs parents of the inappropriate sections of online conversations. This complements Crisp’s relationship analysis tools, which detect the increasingly sophisticated grooming approaches utilized by more devious predators in instant messaging (IM) chat. In less than fifteen months, IMSafer has signed up over 137,000 registered users in the US in the effort to prevent online abuse and bullying.
Andrew Lintell, Crisp’s Chief Executive Officer, said: “This acquisition brings together the sector’s two leading exponents of proactive online child protection. It will allow Crisp to create more robust and comprehensive child protection systems, which will make it even harder for predators to snare children through inappropriate online relationships.”
