ORLANDO, Fla.--()--PayPerPost, the leading marketplace connecting marketers with bloggers, videographers, photographers, podcasters and social networks, introduced a new standard for Word-of-Mouth (WOM) transparency with the debut of “Disclosure Badges”. The badges—a small graphic appearing directly in blog postings created by the company’s participating Consumer Content Creators—allow readers to not only see who is sponsoring the content, but also to benefit from links and other information provided by the sponsor when coupled with PayPerPost's BubbleAd technology.
“Our feeling, however, was that the system could always be improved. We’re excited by in-post Disclosure Badges because they add value to the concept of transparency -- providing all parties a greater level of comfort.”
“When PayPerPost made waves last December by announcing mandatory disclosure for its Consumer Content Creators, many thought the issue was closed,” said Ted Murphy, chief executive officer of PayPerPost. “Our feeling, however, was that the system could always be improved. We’re excited by in-post Disclosure Badges because they add value to the concept of transparency -- providing all parties a greater level of comfort.”
PayPerPost Disclosure Badges can be color-coordinated by the content creator to match his or her site. Sponsors can choose to expand the features of the badge by adding a revolutionary ad unit called a BubbleAd. When the viewer’s mouse hovers over the badge, it expands into a thought bubble that contains details about the sponsor and their products. Sponsors can add an image, text, and/or link to a particular Web page in the BubbleAd, providing synergy between user-generated and sponsor-generated content – all within a full disclosure model.
Disclosure Badges are just one major feature of PayPerPost’s Beta 3 release which debuts this week. The beta includes multiple innovations including expanded support for video, segmentation based on blogger quality, and a new press release feature. The company will be measuring feedback on Disclosure Badges and BubbleAds from content creators as well as the public, with the intent of further improving the technology for all involved.
“Sponsored content is valuable and here to stay. As the market leader, we’re not done innovating and don’t expect to stop anytime soon – particularly where innovations like this bring so much value to sponsored content creators, sponsors and the blogosphere as a whole,” Murphy stated. “Disclosure Badges set a new standard in transparency that further elevates consumer generated media above all other forms.”
