Dow AgroSciences Touts New Enlist™ Technology at London Investor Meeting

CEO Calls New Weed Control System “Best and Most Complete Solution”

Credit Suisse Global Ag Productivity Conference

INDIANAPOLIS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The Enlist™ Weed Control System, the latest in-development pipeline advancement from Dow AgroSciences, took center stage today in an investor presentation by President and CEO Antonio Galindez. Galindez shared his outlook on the technology’s anticipated contribution to agriculture, along with a glimpse of the rest of the company’s burgeoning agricultural chemical and plant biotechnology pipeline, at the Credit Suisse Global Ag Productivity Conference in London.

“The Enlist Weed Control System will be the best and most complete solution available to farmers facing weed control challenges,” said Galindez. “Enlist represents a system approach that integrates our chemistry and biotechnology expertise. It will offer farmers unsurpassed flexibility, convenience and value.” Galindez singled out attention on Dow AgroSciences’ Colex-D™ technology, which is a key part of the Enlist solution. Calling it “groundbreaking technology,” Galindez noted that Colex-D technology will offer farmers and applicators herbicide products with ultra low volatility, minimized potential for physical drift, decreased odor and improved handling characteristics.

Continuing his focus on the company’s budding agricultural chemical and plant biotechnology platform, Galindez reminded investors of the company’s plan to ramp up or launch five new agricultural chemical products between 2008 and 2012. “Last year alone, we advanced six candidates,” he said. Galindez also pointed to the 2010 launch of SmartStax®, the broadest spectrum insect trait technology in the seed corn industry. “This is the best and most robust pipeline in the history of Dow AgroSciences.”

Galindez reminded investors about the global need for increased food production, and also the investment required to bring new technologies to market. “Developing a crop protection product from concept to commercialization takes 10 years of research, development and regulatory review, and more than $250 million,” he said. “To meet the needs of the population in 2050, the world will have to double its food production. The increase in food production will largely have to come from increased agricultural productivity and technology. Dow AgroSciences is boldly innovating to meet the world’s food production needs. That is our purpose.”
