CALGARY SCIENTIFIC PUREWEB SUPPORTS NEXT-GENERATION GPU-POWERED AMAZON EC2 INSTANCES (G3)
Calgary Scientific announced today that its PureWeb software development platform now supports the new Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (Amazon EC2) G3 Instances. The PureWeb platform transforms graphics-intensive applications into cloud-based services that can be accessed from the web or via any mobile device. The G3 instances combine the power of the NVIDIA Tesla M60 GPU along with more CPU power and host memory than any other cloud GPU instance available today for workloads such as 3D rendering, 3D visualizations, graphics-intensive remote workstations, video encoding, and virtual reality applications.
“Calgary Scientific helps clients stream graphics-intensive applications such as CAD software, real estate fly-throughs and car configurators directly from the AWS Cloud for access on mobile devices and embedding in web pages,” said James Henry, Chief Technology Officer at Calgary Scientific. "The massive graphics processing power of Amazon EC2 G3 instances allows us to host more complex 3D models, and deliver smoother 3D interactive experiences with lower latency.”
Chief Evangelist for Amazon Web Services (AWS), Jeff Barr, posted a blog “New – Next-Generation GPU-Powered EC2 Instances (G3)” detailing a step forward with G3 instances and featured PureWeb Reality from Calgary Scientific.
“Our customers have told us that they are looking forward to visualizing large 3D seismic models, configuring cars in 3D, and providing students with the ability to run high-end 2D and 3D applications. For example, Calgary Scientific can take applications that are powered by the Unreal Engine and make them accessible on mobile devices and from within web pages, with collaborative viewing support.
