PITTSBURGH, Pa.--()--DynaVox Systems LLC, a Tobii Technology Company and the global leader in communication solutions for those with disabilities, today unveiled the DynaVox T15, a powerful, 15-inch dynamic display tablet for individuals with advanced access needs, visual impairments or physical limitations. As the world’s largest dedicated speech-generating tablet, the T15 joins the DynaVox T10 as part of the groundbreaking T-Series suite of DynaVox touch-based speech-generating devices intended for those with aphasia, autism, cerebral palsy, cortical visual impairment, early ALS, locked-in syndrome and stroke.

“After the overwhelmingly positive reception of the T10, we recognized the opportunity to accommodate a wider range of users who would benefit from not only a larger screen but also our comprehensive, clinically developed Compass software,” said Bob Cunningham, chief strategy and clinical officer at DynaVox. “The goal of the T-Series, as well as DynaVox, is to provide as many different product offerings as possible to accommodate the complex needs of those with communication and physical impairments.”

As a purpose-built speech-generating device, every feature of the T15 has been carefully considered to provide quick, simple communication and ease of use. The device combines a large, vibrant display with high-contrast PCS symbols to enhance clarity and target size for those with visual limitations such as cortical visual impairment. Equipped with fully integrated switch ports, a capacitive touch screen and a full-sized USB port, the T15 can support multiple access methods, allowing users to communicate through touch, scanning and head mouse input.

DynaVox Compass, the innovative, clinician-researched and clinician-designed communication software that ships with all T-Series devices, has also been updated to better accommodate users’ needs. Compass 2.0 features two new pagesets and new communication tools, and seamlessly connects with your free personal myDynaVox account, providing the ability to share content among family members, members of the support team and other users, as well as the ability to back up and restore your personal communication content. The All Access pageset includes a comprehensive vocabulary that can be easily adapted to any individual’s communication ability with easy message on a page, efficient retrieval and editing of previously spoken messages, and a wizard to walk individuals through selecting an access method. The Navigator pageset is designed to support the needs of literate individuals who primarily want to use a keyboard to communicate.

For customers seeking a more compact, touch-based communication device, DynaVox also announced today the availability of the Tobii M-8 with DynaVox Compass software. Compact and lightweight, the 8-inch screen of the Tobii M-8 makes it the ideal solution for both children and adults who want a tool that is truly portable and convenient for school, work or home. The M-8’s protective case, detachable shoulder strap and built-in table stand add convenience and portability to the device.
