CITY OF INDUSTRY, Calif.--()--Hot Topic and TRIPP nyc unveiled a limited-edition collection of apparel inspired by the feature film “The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones.” Designed by Daang Goodman, the renowned punk rock scene designer behind TRIPP nyc and the Trash & Vaudeville boutique in New York’s St. Mark’s Place, the collection is the most recent collaboration between TRIPP nyc and Hot Topic. The apparel line will be available exclusively in Hot Topic stores on July 8, with an online only pre-sale starting today at HotTopic.com.

“The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones” fashion collection is inspired by the costumes in the feature film – which is based upon the worldwide best-selling book series and will be released in theaters nationwide on August 21.

Set in contemporary New York City, a seemingly ordinary teenager, Clary Fray (Lily Collins), discovers she is the descendant of a line of Shadowhunters, a secret cadre of young half-angel warriors locked in an ancient battle to protect our world from demons. After the disappearance of her mother (Lena Headey), Clary must join forces with a group of Shadowhunters, who introduce her to a dangerous alternate New York called Downworld, filled with demons, warlocks, vampires, werewolves and other deadly creatures.

“Daang Goodman has been the preeminent fashion designer for New York’s alternative scene for decades. When our partnership for this film came together with Constantin Film and Sony Pictures Consumer Products, we immediately thought of her to design the collection,” said Cindy Levitt, Vice President and General Merchandise Manager for Hot Topic. “Her punk rock design sensibility has been critical in creating a line of apparel that’s authentic to the film, as well as fashion-forward.”

“The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones” fashion collection has a modern Gothic look, and includes moto jackets and vests, and dresses with Angelic Power rune accents, as well as dresses, leggings and tank tops with sublimation prints of film art. Hot Topic will also offer fashion accessories including prop replica cuff bracelets, rings, necklaces, bags, and rune-inspired temporary tattoos.

“It was so much fun collaborating with Hot Topic and Screen Gems on this exciting collection,” said TRIPP nyc founder and designer Daang Goodman. “The costumes in the film had such a great underground feel, which translated extremely well to a line of apparel that’s very rock and roll – and very now.”
