KNOXVILLE, Tenn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Márcio Fonseca, a widely respected pay television programming and distribution executive with more than a decade of experience in Latin America, has been named managing director of Latin America for Scripps Networks Interactive, Inc. (NYSE: SNI).
As managing director in Latin America, Fonseca will be responsible for designing and executing growth strategies for the region, including the launch of Scripps Networks Interactive-branded networks, evaluating joint ventures and partnerships and leveraging the company’s brands and lifestyle programming expertise across multiple platforms and distribution channels.

He will be a valued addition to our international leadership team.”
With Fonseca’s appointment, Scripps Networks Interactive now has leadership in place for Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA), Asia Pacific and Latin America.
Fonseca comes to Scripps Networks Interactive from Fox Latin American Channels where he was vice president of sales strategy and business development. In that role, he was responsible for exploring growth opportunities for the company in Latin America, including acquisitions and strategic alliances. He was the project leader who oversaw the recent launch of Fox Sports Brazil.
Fonseca has experience in both programming and distribution. He joined Fox Latin American Channels in 2006 after working four years as administrative and financial director for Associacão Neo TV, an entity that congregates 127 Pay TV and Internet members in Brazil.
While at Fox Latin American Channels he served in a variety of roles of increasing importance, including serving as vice president and general manager of the company’s North Cone region, which includes Mexico, Central America and U.S. Hispanic markets. He also served as executive director for Fox in Brazil, where he was responsible for formulating all sales and marketing initiatives.

Fonseca will be based in Brazil and report to Jim Samples. His appointment is effective immediately.
Fonseca earned master’s degrees in business administration from The COPPEAD Graduate School of Business at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro and Ibmec, a private Brazilian university that specializes in the study of business and economics. He has a bachelor’s degree in business administration from SBI – Rio de Janeiro.
