GetJar Reveals That Mobile Apps Will Outsell CDs by 2012

In 2009, the total number of app downloads (global) were approximately 7 billion with Asia leading the way with 37% of the global downloads. By 2012, the total number of app downloads are expected to grow at 62% CAGR to almost 50 billion downloads per year (figure 5). This is in part due to the increasing number of feature phone users becoming active app users and due to the increase in the number of app downloads/user/month across the board.
