Taos, New Mexico Kicks off Summer Travel Festivities

Actor Dennis Hopper received the key to the Town of Taos from Taos Mayor Darren Cordova. Hopper was named the Honorary Mayor of Taos for the 2009 Taos Summer of Love, which celebrates the 40-year anniversary of Hopper's classic film Easy Rider. Hopper, an acclaimed artist and photographer, has two art shows at the Harwood Museum of Art from May 9 - September 20, 2009. Taos Mayor Darren Cordova handed the keys to the Town of Taos to Actor Dennis Hopper and named him the honorary Mayor of Taos. Hopper, who is curating a show of the five artists who followed him from LA to Taos, talked about them and what a great community Taos is for creating and showing art. "Hopper at the Harwood" runs from May through September 2009 at the Harwood Museum of Art in Taos, N.M., during the 2009 Taos Summer of Love.
